TRAINING COURSE ” I MANAGE 2.0” BARI , ITALY 19 – 26 OCTOBER 2015

From October 19 to 26, 2015, the European project I manage 2.0, organized by #EUROSUD, an association for international youth mobility, took place in Corato and Giovinazzo. The project was implemented with the support of the National Youth Agency under the Erasmus+ program promoted and supported by the European Commission.

Thirty-five young people participated in the project, including university students, group leaders, volunteers, and youth workers from Italy, Croatia,Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Romania, and Greece. The participants arerepresentatives and volunteers from international associations working within the Erasmus+ program. The main aim of the project was to provide participants with new skills in project management through the use of non-formal education. In addition to the ordinary activities of the training course, participants were involved in a visit to the city of Corato.

After the official welcome in the Mayor’s reception room and the presentation of the book celebrating the city of Corato, project participants were able to explore the Municipal Theatre, learning about its history and the splendid historic curtain depicting the Barletta Challenge. The group then stopped at the “Pantheon” reception hall, where the first show cooking and food and wine promotion experience was held by the newly formed “Quadratum Culinarie Team” association. The association was born from the desire of young Corato chefs to network and promote the region, its knowledge, and its flavors. Throughout the project, EUROSUD managed the logistics and smooth running of the activities. Special and sincere thanks for the impressive results achieved go to the participants and representatives of the local associations involved. As President of EUROSUD, I can only express my satisfaction and gratitude to the representatives of the Corato Youth Forum for the cordial and trusting relationship that unites our mutual activities. The Corato Youth Forum is undoubtedly one of the best local partners for all projects with a European scope.

IL RACCONTO DELLA GIORNATA ERASMUS+ A CORATO

Europe embraces Corato: our city finally celebrated its first Erasmus+ Day. A true experience, with young people at the center.
More than thirty young people from 10 European countries enjoyed an experience that explored and promoted our region, thanks to the “I manage 2.0” project by EUROSUD – our partner in the memorandum of understanding – funded by the Erasmus+ program.

As scheduled, the day began around 9:30 a.m. with the youth being welcomed at the Town Hall by the City Administration, represented by Mayor Massimo Mazzilli, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Economic Development Francesco Scaringella, and Councilor for Youth Policies Anita Musto. The Mayor greeted the young people participating in the project with this message: “Feel fortunate to be part of these experiences, not just about exchange, but about learning, about expanding your professional and personal knowledge. Corato is ready to welcome you, and with it, its young people—new and vibrant ambassadors for the region, capable of networking in new and unimaginable ways and creating a global impact.” His words were echoed by those of the young members of the Administration: Deputy Mayor Scaringella, who reminded his European peers of his personal travel and Erasmus experiences, emphasizing the Forum’s commitment and proactive collaboration in developing both events and projects, including long-term ones; Councilor Musto, who encouraged the young people to express themselves to the fullest in this experience, was proud to have accompanied the signing of the protocol and supported this first Erasmus+ day in Corato, calling it “a historic challenge won through networking, the beginning of a journey of European youth culture with the Youth Forum.”

The visit to Palazzo “San Cataldo” also featured an original extra: in the beloved Sala Verde, the young Europeans were treated to a piano improvisation presented by the young Maestro Pierpaolo Vilella. A surprise ensued, with other young people from the same experience wanting to perform on the piano. This too is dialogue, the most authentic kind.

After visiting the Mayor’s office and receiving a book celebrating the city of Corato, the project participants stopped at the Municipal Theater to learn about its history and the splendid historic curtain depicting the Barletta Challenge. The group then stopped at the “Pantheon” Reception Hall, where the first cooking show and food and wine promotion experience was held by the newly formed “Quadratum Culinarie Team” Association, born from the desire of young Corato chefs to network and promote the region, its knowledge, and its flavors. The group was delighted by the most authentic flavors of the Murgia region: cardoncelli mushrooms, “La Coratina” monovarietal extra virgin olive oil, semolina strips, vincotto, cartellate, and wines from the Castel del Monte area. There were many questions and curiosities, as well as just as many requests for contacts to develop commercial relationships with local agri-food companies and gastronomic experiences in other European countries.

The journey of discovery of the area could not fail to include a journey through our historical roots with a visit to the Museum of Civilization and Territory. A Structured Dialogue session was also held in the museum center’s Tratturi Hall, during which the group of
young European participants was introduced to the Corato Municipal Youth Forum and its activities by President Luigi Menduni, focusing in particular on the most recent initiatives and those from the last summer calendar. The enthusiasm registered and the discussion that followed, coordinated by President Adriano Di Fronzo, was unexpected. Requests for suggestions on how to develop youth-impact initiatives based on the experience of our Forum emerged, as well as evaluations of participants’ “return trips” with the aim of staying in Corato in Spring-Summer 2016 and developing economic and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Finally, the visit to Palazzo Gioia was followed by a tour of the city’s historic center, following the path traced by the street art works created during the “Verso Sud” Festival. The students then concluded the day with an Italian-style aperitif in Piazza Di Vagno.

“EUROSUD can only thank the Youth Forum: it is one of the best partners for European projects,” commented the association’s President, Adriano Di Fronzo. “The European students were delighted, and I believe excellent collaborations have been forged, along with a desire to return here to build. I’m sure that other European-level initiatives will follow in Corato.”

“An extraordinary day that went far beyond our wildest expectations,” emphasized Forum President Luigi Menduni. “One month after the signing of the memorandum of understanding with EUROSUD, the City Administration and the young people of Corato have already achieved numerous results, including outgoing opportunities (experiences in other European countries) for them. Now, with this incoming experience, young people from Europe can discover our city, interact with their peers, and exchange best practices. And they are truly at the heart of the experience. Soon, we will be traveling with the young people of Corato on Erasmus+ to Malta, and then we will have other European days and projects in our city. In the meantime, off to a good start!”

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Youth Forum of the Municipality of Corato and EUROSUD, an association for international youth mobility, is now bearing its first fruits, including incoming youth. Indeed, while the range of outgoing Erasmus+ project opportunities for young people from Corato continues to expand, offering them experiences in Europe, this time Corato will have the opportunity to host 30 young people from 10 European countries on a journey to enhance and discover our traditions and the unique characteristics of our region, as envisioned in the theme of the “I manage 2.0” project, funded by the Erasmus+ Program.

The day dedicated to this initiative will be October 24, 2015 and will follow the following program:

  • 9:15 AM – Arrival of the students at the Palazzo di Città (institutional greetings in the City Council Chamber)
  • 10:30 AM – Visit to the Municipal Theater or 11:30 AM – Departure from Piazza Cesare Battisti to the Pantheon Reception Hall (show cooking and lunch – hosted by the “Quadratum Culinarie Team” Association)
  • 2:45 PM – Structured Dialogue at the Corato Museum of Civilization and Territory and tour of the exhibition areas
  • 5:30 PM – Visit to Palazzo Gioia or 6:30 PM – Tour of the Historic Center, discovering street art

During the Structured Dialogue and Welcome sessions, the Youth Forum of the Municipality of Corato and its activities will be presented. Furthermore, a delegation of local institutions from the island of Malta will also participate in the Day of this Erasmus+ project.

“For EUROSUD, this confirms that it can count on a valuable youth ally in the area: the Youth Forum of the Municipality of Corato, which
demonstrates great attention to sowing the seeds of dialogue and European culture for the young people of Corato, without forgetting its roots,” explains the association’s President, Adriano Di Fronzo. “This day will focus on enhancing and understanding the tangible and intangible heritage of the area, with a focus on the city of Corato, through the eyes of young people from EU countries.” “It will be an extraordinary event. This day is a first for Corato, and other initiatives will soon follow, increasingly networked with concrete, participatory European and international organizations,” commented Forum President Luigi Menduni. “As I already emphasized when the Protocol was signed, this is the beginning of an activity that will make Corato a hub for European experiences. And now, finally, the true protagonists are young people.”

EUROSUD IN CROATIA! CONFERENCE “BUDI POSLOVAN, BUDI KONKURENTAN!” OSIJEK 13 . 04.2015

Just back from a great experience with our colleagues in Croatia. The student organization Financijski impuls at University of Osijek, Faculty of Economics has organized a conference ”BUDI POSLOVAN, BUDI KONKURENTAN” in order to focus on working experience and volunteering abroad under EU programs and funds opportunities.

Guest and speakers for the conference :
➽ Tomislav Bogdan from CET PLATFORM Hrvaska
➽ Adriano Difronzo from EUROSUD
➽ Enisa Kifer ,EURES representative in Croatia

CET Platform and EUROSUD presented their organizations , their experiences and offered a wide panorama of the all opportunities under the framework offered by the EU funds.

Erasmus+ is not just for students – in 2015 it will provide funding for more than 10 000 young people who want to make a difference by volunteering across Europe and beyond. If you are between 17 and 30 years-old you could be one of them and spend up to 12 months abroad. Not only would you participate in a project that helps make the world a better place, you would also learn new skills that may help you find a job afterwards!

The new ERASMUS + program focus on students and educator mobilities, reform of existing overlapping structures and greater cooperation in the field of education with non-EU countries. Target are all European students, trainees, teachers, trainers and youth. Up to 5 million persons will benefit from EU funds for getting education or training experience abroad between 2014-2020 (twice as many people as today).

It also includes for the first time a support to the sport . With the integrated program applicants may obtain more easily an overview of grant opportunities available, while other simplifications will in turn help to facilitate access .

Erasmus + is started in a time when the EU almost 6 million young people are unemployed , with levels in some countries more than 50% . At the same time there are over 2 million job vacancies , and a third of employers report difficulty in recruiting staff with the required qualifications . This demonstrates the existence of important skills deficits in Europe.

Erasmus + will address these deficits by providing opportunities for study , training or work experience or volunteering abroad. It proposes more support to participants from lower socio-economic background and disadvantaged groups, as well as more flexibility to various needs, new forms of mobility (physical and virtual) and better use of new technologies. In the field of education and training, the Erasmus initiative is renowned for the opportunities it provides students to learn abroad, as well as the opportunities it provides for teaching
staff in higher education.

Later on , EURES representative in Croatia , Enisa Kifer , presented EURES portal and all the services provided. Also was pointed out the collaboration between EURES ITALIA and EURES HRVATSKA regarding ” Your First Eures Job programme ” in Croatia.

EUROSUD as well presented the activities implemented by Sof Ingo Network in order to implement projects about self development and personal growth . We of course encourage other people , organizations , students and youth workers to contribute and collaborate with us in what we’re doing. May it change their minds when new things come up, and we all may find a better way to do things and develop.

PERCORSI DI MOBILITA’ ALL’ESTERO: YOUR FIRST EURES JOB – YFEJ 2015

Which direction should we take? Mobility paths abroad: Your First Eures Job – YFEJ 2015
EUROSUD, the association for international mobility, participated in the information meeting

entitled: Your First Eures Job – YFEJ 2015.
The presentation of the EU initiative Your First Eures Job 2015 edition took place today,

Thursday, February 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the video conference room of the

Polytechnic University of Bari – Via Amendola 126/B.
The meeting aimed to offer students and graduates of the University a broad overview of the

opportunities and possibilities available for pursuing an educational experience abroad.
In the first part of the morning, after the institutional greetings, the already well-known project “Your First Eures Job – YFEJ 2015” was presented.
Ample time was also dedicated to questions from the audience. Many participants received valuable advice on how to write a CV and cover letter in English and, more generally, how to best prepare for an experience abroad.
Your First Eures Job, now in its second year, is a European Commission initiative aimed at promoting and supporting the mobility of young workers in Europe.
The project provides assistance to young people seeking employment in a European Union country and to employers in selecting foreign personnel. In addition to assistance, information, and consultancy services on the labor markets of various European countries, Your First Eures Job provides financial support, both for the worker (to cover the costs of a job interview in an EU country and an initial relocation) and for the employer
(an allowance to support the worker’s training).
Most companies consider diversity in the workplace an added value and an opportunity for development for individuals.
Integrating workers from diverse cultural backgrounds has been shown to improve business performance. YFEJ helps you find staff in another European country and fill vacancies for qualified professionals when they aren’t available in your own country.
The virtual platform Your first EURES job Province of Rome is the greatest contribution to our success. With an average of 100 new candidates interviewed each month, a dynamic and up-to-date database has been developed and maintained, fed by approximately 20,000 candidates. It includes at least 4,000 top-quality, qualified, and highly trained profiles, available to all consultants connected to the system.
Web-based information and an online service for both candidates and companies (website, online platform for posting job offers and uploading CVs).
E-Counseling: online consultancy for companies at various stages of the recruitment process and for candidates in defining their
career path and active job search.

ANOTHER E+ DEADLINE DONE

Another E+ deadline is closing and we are always more and more active in it ,

developing new project ideas and working all together to raise the chances to
implement those projects.
For the next activities we’re focusing on several topics such as european labour mobilty , project management but also we’re trying to cover nowdays issues such as intercultural dialogue and social inclusion.
We of course encourage other people , organizations , students and youthworkers to contribute and collaborate with us in what we’re doing. May it change their minds when new things come up, and we all may find a better way to
do things and develop.
As a youth organization , we assign great importance to the part we have in the information delivery regarding EU travel&study opportunities and related benefits systems. Regarding the international activities EUROSUD is preparing a sequence of action and steps to implement an european meeting-seminar focusing on promoting labour mobility, how to help young people to find information and useful tools provided by European Commission.
That’s why EUROSUD set up a partnership with Eures Puglia office but also with organizations like Forum Giovani Puglia ( Andrea BarchettaSalvatore Pistillo) , and we’re also part of Anna Lindh Foundation international network. EUROSUD as well, set up an agreement with Sof Italy and Sof Ingo Network in order to implement projects about self development and personal growth .
Good work to all our local and international partners!!!!
