In Bulgaria for the international Training Course “ECO versus WASTE”
From 17 to 25 November 2024, youth workers and representatives of youth organizations came together in Bansko, Bulgaria for the international Training Course “ECO versus WASTE”—an educational project focused on strengthening environmental awareness and practical solutions to fight waste and climate change.
The main goal of the project was to promote collaboration, exchange of know-how, and sharing of good practicesamong people working with young people, with a strong focus on ecology, sustainability, and responsible lifestyles.
Throughout the training, participants explored how to better engage young people in environmental topics while developing key competences such as entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, and intercultural communication.
The program supported participants in building skills to:
- better understand environmental challenges and climate change,
- develop eco-friendly habits and inspire sustainable daily practices,
- exchange tools and methods for youth engagement,
- design innovative initiatives and eco-project ideas,
- promote environmental and social entrepreneurship as a way to create smart solutions for the future.
The training gathered partner organizations and participants from Bulgaria, Czechia, Italy, Lithuania, North Macedonia, and Serbia, creating a diverse and inspiring learning environment where solidarity, cooperation, and shared European values were central elements of the experience.
The project officially started with participants arriving in Sofia on 17 November, and continued with a full training program in Bansko, concluding on 25 November 2024, when the group returned to Sofia for departures.
“ECO versus WASTE” was more than a training course—it was a space where ideas, motivation, and practical strategies met, empowering youth workers to support greener actions and help young people become active contributors to a more sustainable Europe.
