Hello everyone 🙂
My name is Sarah, I am 20 years old and from France 🇫🇷 🥖
I just finished my bachelor’s degree in economics and banking in Lyon. I choose to take part of this project because I felt the need to be with people and exchanging, to enrich my vision and understanding of things.
I hope to contribute positively to local initiatives, learn more of Italian culture, and develop new skills in a collaborative environment.
Through this volunteering experience, I also hope to broaden my professional perspectives and further develop my understanding of how financial principles can be applied to foster positive social impact.

During my second month in Italy, I had the pleasure of meeting my new roommates, and we quickly bonded over shared experiences.
Together, we attended the Climate Pride event, where we joined the vibrant parade celebrating biodiversity and raising awareness for environmental issues in Rome.
We felt a strong sense of unity with others who are passionate about protecting the planet. The streets were alive with energy, filled with banners, music, and costumes that celebrated the beauty and importance of biodiversity.
Additionally, we visited the CIHEAM Bari, an international center for advanced agronomic studies, to take part in the Mediterranean Innovation AgriFood Week.

This event highlighted advancements and opportunities in sustainable agriculture across the Mediterranean region, offering us a chance to engage with experts and explore innovative solutions for the future of agrifood system.
December – the month of celebration and delicious, hearty food !
During this time, I had the chance, amidst my schedule, to enjoy the Christmas decorations around the city.
I cooked a traditional French winter dish, ‘La Soupe à l’Oignon,’ with my friend while in Italy. At the same time, I had the chance to enjoy delicious seafood pasta and panettone.
Later in the month, I had the opportunity to return to France to ring in the New Year with my friends and family.
January—the month of new beginnings and fresh goals!

This month felt like a fresh start, with my old roommates leaving to make way for the new. During this chilly month, I enjoyed hot meals at Mensa, the social restaurant, and had great conversations with my new flatmates.
One of the highlights was our trip to Alberobello with the association and my new roommates.
We got to explore this charming town famous for its unique trulli houses—those iconic, conical-roofed buildings that look like something out of a fairytale.
Walking through the narrow streets and taking in the picturesque scenery was such a memorable experience.
The house became livelier, and we started planning more activities together—though, at times, transportation didn’t quite cooperate, haha!
February stood out as a distinct month, marked by a subtle shift in weather. While temperatures began to improve and the sun to show a bit more it was still quite cold.
This month offered me the opportunity to engage in new activities at Capurso School. One of the highlights was reading fairy tales with the children, which provided a fun and engaging way to foster their love for storytelling.
Additionally, I led several English lessons where I gave the students the freedom to choose the topics they wanted to explore. To keep their interest high, I transformed these lessons into interactive games, which proved to be a successful approach in making learning more enjoyable.
Beyond my activities at Capurso School, February also gave me the chance to immerse myself in a significant cultural event : the Carnival in Putignano. This experience allowed me to witness firsthand the traditions of Italian Carnival celebrations.
